I have a chip on my shoulder about it -- that's when he starts teasing me about my pronunciation of "aliphant". And why I embrace my western suburbs accent so proudly. Call me a reverse snob if you like. But, back to the point: I was just surprised when I hit the dictionary to find that it technically wasn't wrong, because I've never heard it before. I mean, even with the dictionary meaning in hand, I couldn't tell you where the provinces are exactly. Do all rural areas have two senators representing them? How many do urban areas have? Is there any sort of conformity? No idea. And, sadly, not interested enough to find out -- but a more advanced search may render the whole idea of provinces meaningless (even in the technical sense) to the ad campaign. I mean, really, it is anyway. If neither of us have ever heard of Victorian provinces in everyday use, chances are most other Victorians haven't either. It's also the part of editing I love -- that I become ensconced in my dictionary and find out all manner of things I didn't know before. And perhaps I should go and find out how many senators sit in any area, but I'm on holidays! lol. Today, I'm going to write!

Well done on making it all the way, I’ve been following your blog,,, I can just imagine your faces never mind what the horses thought when you arrived at Berridale Braes, it’s not the easiest bit on the road, bad enough towing a trailer up and down it never mind, driving the down it with your horses and wagons.Hope all the horses and humans recover well, after such a long trip, a holiday now for them as they have done a brilliant job, once again thank you to you all for your hardwork and effort in raising money for this worthwhile cause.

I know the Berriedale Brae and can well imagine your hearts must have been in your mouths – but you did it! A huge WELL DONE to all concerned – the drivers, riders, essential support team and of course the HORSES. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about what you have all achieved and I only wish I could be there at the finishing line to cheer you in.. It has been an emotional week!

Thanks for this, Matt. Being (mostly) cooped up iodrnos on the trainer and watching videos of past races has got me lusting a bit over carbon wunder-bikes. Training in such an isolated, artificial fashion seems to lead to a kind of cognitive dissonance. Imagining myself riding against the pros, battling it out with Nino and Julien for a world cup XC title, it becomes easy to believe all that separates *us* from *them* is their level of coaching, training, and equipment. Of course they have all those advantages, but by far the largest is genetics -- they are truly gifted freaks of nature.Cycling is different than most sports in that the amateurs can acutually come fairly close to imitating the pros -- we can ride the same bikes, wear the same clothes, and use the same training tools. However, all these technological toys are really just obfuscating the truth; that, as you say, no bicycle will compensate for an unfit body. Finally, having never actually ridden a carbon bike makes it that much easier to buy into the marketing hype... that such a machine would actually make a huge difference, allowing me to effortlessly float up the climbs and slice through the wind. The fact is, losing 20 lbs off my body would do more to speed me up than any bike ever could. Would a super high-end bike make me faster? Yes, by a small amount, but no more than a high-end kitchen would make one a better chef. Like that nice kitchen, though... I will one day spoil myself. At least when I do I'll be able to comfort myself with the fact that a $10k full carbon Di2 equipped bike is a far more affordable midlife crisis vehicle than an exotic sports car!

Je suis tout à fait d’accord. Il s’agit, pour ces entreprises, de mesures susceptibles de créer de la valeur. En ne prenant pas d’actions concrètes, elles risquent de créer l’effet inverse. Merci d’être venu sur mon blogue !

WTF!Sick G. Hill. For all the "ARMCHAIR MOUNTAINEERS" out there; See this blog for what it is, as Greg has laid out, a progression. Get off the damn couch and see what your capable of instead of ripping on something that you dont understand. The usual North American attitude. Greg, if anyone else gives you shit just send them down here to Colorado for some real "Extreme Skiing"!Bullocks to the Naysayers!Douglas Sproul
